More than a medium to express myself, my views and ramblings, I have to be honest in saying that I do consider this blog as an investment. For obvious reasons, one of my primary goal in creating PinoyDreamer is for it to make money online, just like my first blogspot blog did. I actually got the courage of purchasing my own domain from my earnings in my free hosted blog, and so here it is, PinoyDreamer came into existence.

As a business student, I want to share with you the reasons why your blog can be considered as an investment (this apply if one of your purpose in blogging is to make money online).

  1. The most definitive reason, you put in something. Your internet connection, increased electricity bills, your immeasurable efforts and the endless time you devote in improving your blog is your capital. Compared to other forms of investment like the stock market and foreign exchange, this is actually very cheap. Inputs are as immeasurable as the outputs.
  2. The presence of risk and rewards. The greatest risk in blogging is actually not getting anything from it. If you’re only purpose in blogging is to make money online, well, not getting anything or not getting anything sufficient maybe a compelling reason to discontinue blogging. But for those who found other purpose on blogging aside from making money on it, it could be a different story. The rewards? Damn.. With all sincerity, aside from the money, learning lots of things is the greatest reward a blog has offered me.
  3. There is always uncertainty in risks and rewards, in failure and in success. Like in any investment outlet, or to any business per se, you can never get rid of uncertainty. You will never be certain that you will fail, the same way that you can’t be certain in your success. Though these uncertainties can be minimized as you go along and gain the appropriate experience, they will never disappear absolutely.
  4. You speculate. A good investor/businessman is a good speculator. He/she foresees things more accurate than others. Would you agree if I say speculation applies in blogging too? If you’re doing SEO to increase your blog’s traffic, you speculate keywords, and eventually tag them. If you’re creating your post, you speculate on how your readers will react, and in certain cases, bloggers speculate what post is juicy and what is not.

Just like in investing in the stock market or forex, you should always set your goals. Do you plan in short term profits? Or, are you taking it in long term? Choosing between those two different perspectives can influence your decisions and actions regarding your blog and all opportunities that comes into it.

For example, let’s say you’re into paid to blog network and for instance, your network offered you many projects, each belong to different niches. If you’re thinking in the short term, it is very probable that you’ll grab all of those opportunities, even though it’s far away from your blog’s category. Good thing about it is that you’ll experience financial freedom in a few months, the downside is, just in a few months. This is a personal experience, and well, that blog of mine seems to diminish day after day. On the other hand, if you have to set your long term goals, I’m sure that you will filter all opportunities that will come your way. With lots of projects and assignments on hand, you’ll choose what’s relevant and what’s not, what’s appropriate and what is inappropriate.

Deciding on what perspective you will look at does not define your success. As I have said earlier, you can never get rid of uncertainties. In my case, I opt to take the long term perspective. I’m beginning to filter opportunities, though they are very limited, still, I limit them regarding their relevance to my category, and how comfortable I am in achieving and completing them.

BTW, as a start of attaining my long term goals, I signed up at payperpost and I’m proud to announce to everyone here that finally, I am approved. Just to let you know, I have exhausted all of my luck in applying at payperpost using my blogspot blog, and it all ends up to no avail. My blogspot blog turned into a junk, a crap, when I grabbed all of the opportunities that came to me. Lots of gambling reviews, irrelevant topics, and meaningless posts. However, the only thing that I could be proud of that blogspot blog is that it gave me the capital, the courage, and some experience to finally setup my own domain. With the money I’ve got from that blog, I was able to open a separate bank account for my online ventures, I have bought my graduation attire, I was able to buy a few books that I will be needing for my incoming review, and I felt reach for a couple of weeks. hehe

Well, I think I should be wiser now. Now that I have been approved at the highest paying blog advertising network, payperpost, I think I should start it right. I will apply all the lessons that I have learned. I’ll be cautious in all opportunities that I will take. I will be a smarter investor, unlike I was before. Now I’m thinking for the long run, and yes, I’m hoping for greater rewards this time. I hope payperpost could help me buy my own laptop within six months..lol

Happy Blogging!!
